Labour: fighting for you across Croydon
Croydon's Conservative Councillors have declined an offer by Labour Councillors to attend a public meeting, facilitated and organised by South norwood residents.
South Norwood Labour Councillor, Kathy Bee, who invited Tory Councillors said: "It was bad enough that Tory Councillors could accepted and then declined the invitation to attend the public meeting, but then trying to stop council officers going was the last straw."
Councillor Jane Avis said: "I welcome the councils decision to send officers to the meeting. That is the least our community deserves. We are not asking much, but it would have been nice for the Tory politicians, who are responsible for the decison, to come along.
Councillor Wayne Lawlor said: "I was quite shocked to hear that Tory Councillors had suddenly decline the invitation to the public meeting on the grounds that it was 'political'. Of course it is political. Politics is about services that affect our lives everyday. People of all political persuations and those of none will be coming, just as they have done in the past."
