Residents protest against loss of community hall

Waddon Residents Protest 1

Residents on the Waddon Estate are furious that the Council has dropped plans for a dedicated community hall as part of the redevelopment of the Waylands and Propeller pub site

This protest was organised by local residents and had a strong turn out.

Speaking to local residents it was clear that their top priority was a dedicated space to bring the community together.

This comes on top of the three year delay in building a swimming pool on the site by the Tory Council who have spent years messing about with the scheme. At one point they proposed building 800 houses on the site to pay for it!

Thankfully this has been defeated by local residents, but still the scheme includes a large number of houses, many overlooking the normal height houses on the estate

Labour has made it clear to local residents that we consider the community hall a key reason for the development in the first place and will provide a dedicated community hall for residents.
