Labour: fighting for you across Croydon
Following the terrible riots in Croydon, Labour’s Shadow Cabinet will hold its meeting at:
Praise House, 145-151 London Road, Entrance on Montague Road, Near Lidl Supermarket, on Monday 12 September at 6:30pm.
Labour Leader Councillor Tony Newman said:
“The Shadow Cabinet will be meeting with the community of one of the worst hit areas on London Road. I spoken to families and businesses that have given me and my colleagues some harrowing accounts of what that part of Croydon endured on 8/8, which have frankly raised more questions than answers.
We will be meeting at Praise House, London Road, to take evidence from the local community, community leaders and businesses into the shocking event of August 8. We, Labour Councillors in Croydon, are backing community calls for an independent public inquiry into the riots. This, we believe, will identify what went wrong and what worked on that dreadful night.
I cannot and will not ignore important questions in relation to police numbers and the response from emergency services on that night. Our communities have the right to be heard and bringing the Shadow Cabinet meeting to London Road is an important step towards Croydon’s recovery.”
