Labour: fighting for you across Croydon and Sutton
This can only be good news for South Norwood residents.
Labour's Action team member in South Norwood, Councillor Jane Avis said, 'I appreciate that people may have reservations and concerns with our proposals, but by scrapping the Tories luxury £450million HQ we can do this. The new luxury HQ is an absurd indulgence. In these economic times residents want a council that will deliver and improve public services.'
Kathy Bee said, 'It was only recently that Croydon council spent £10 million plus on refurbishing Taberner House. Surely if they knew the building was not fit for purpose, as they are now telling us, these plans are extraordinary waste of South Norwood residents tax payers money.'
Wayne Lawlor said, 'I welcome Cllr Tony Newman's announcement. On top of free school meals this is a great deal for families in South Norwood. The reaction on the door step has been one of amazement at the Tories new luxury new HQ. I have spoken to so many residents who are struggling to make ends meet, and coupled with this Conservative administrations lack of public support for reinstating the tram extention from South Norwood to Crystal Palace, it just beggars belief!'.
