Croydon South Labour Party meeting with Ken Livingstone 12th August 2010
On Thursday 12th August Ken Livingstone Addressed a packed meeting of Croydon South Labour Party members. Ken Livingstone who is one of the key short listed candidates for the Labour nomination for London Mayor in 2012 took time off from his busy campaign schedule to attend the meeting in Croydon.
Ken talked about his time and his achievements during his terms of office as Mayor of London. He gave his views on the need to improve public transport in outer London including local train services and extending the Tram across south London.
On the economy he explained how he would change the balance of the London economy and the importance of the emerging economies of Brazil, China and India. He also went on to talk about the urgent need to improve air quality in Large cities such as London and the need to address Climate change not only in the UK, but globally.
Finally he gave his opinion on how the Labour party should reform itself, when it has chosen its new leader. The explained that the party needs to look after both its traditional supporters and the middle classes who will be hurt badly by the both announced cuts and the proposes cuts that would come in the new coalition Government’s autumn statement.
