Labour: fighting for you across Croydon and Sutton
Since the Conservatives introduced the bulky waste charge, residents in Auckland Road, Auckland Rise, Warminster Road, Holmesdae and Whitworth Roads have been experiencing unacceptable levels of bulky waste such as sofa's, broken washing machine's and fridge freezers being dumped in the streets.
Local resident on Holmesdale Road, Bernard Brookes said, "Croydon's Conservative council really need to get a grip. We are just recovering from recession, and the economy is fragile, just we are still being charged council tax - whilst neighbouring Lambeth pay nothing. Surely this is not fair or equitable. Croydon Tories need to come clean and admit that they need the revenue from council tax to pay for their £450 million HQ. Why can't we have local hubs instead of a large expensive central council hub? This is bad news for South Norwood and Croydon North."
