David Miliband visits Sir Philip Game Centre & Croydon Judo Club in Addiscombe

Patricia Hay- Justice with David Miliband and Tessa Jowell at Cr Foreign Secretary David Miliband visited Croydon Judo Club and Sir Philip Game Centre on April 8th 2010 to look at one of the Croydon Labour Party success stories. Along with Olympic Minister, Tessa Jowell, they met with staff and users of the two buildings to see for themselves the great work done there since the then Croydon Labour rebuilt the two centres in 2006. Addiscombe Labour Candidate Patricia Hay-Justice welcome them and Gerry Ryan, Labour Candidate for Croydon Central, to the Centres.

In 2006, saw the completion of the of the £1million new building, which hosts the two centres in Addiscombe for sport and youth service provision. Sir Philip Game Centre is a modern youth and local comunity centre. Croydon Judo Club is recognise as one of Britain's leading club and has it own dedicated Dojo hall (see picture below).

Croydon Judo Club AddiscombeCroydon Judo Cub has nurtured many youngsters living throughout Croydon and indeed as far as Tunbridge and even other countries. The Club leaders Sheila and Alan focus on each individual's welfare meaning the club is a mini community within Croydon. The club is host to at least two members of the national team.

Addiscombe Labour Candidate Patricia Hay-Justice said " Croydon should be grateful to Alan, Shelia and their team of volunteers for the work that they do. They make a real difference to people lives, and the work they do is inspiring. It makes me proud that a Croydon Labour Council was willing to support people like Alan and Sheila and help provide them a building in Addiscombe that is making a great contribution every day."
