The Conservative Council has plunged Schools and the Education services into Crisis over a long period of time.
The council has ignored local residents and parents when it comes to what sort of school they want to serve them. They hit the buffers with the first set of proposals, but then came back with a set of 'revised' proposals that handed over schools to the Harris Foundation, Oasis Foundation and Coloma Foundation.
The Government funds education, but local councils are responsible for consulting with local people and determining what schools go where.
The Government minister was clear that he did not believe that the Tory run council was capable of improving schools for local people so he has agreed the proposals to hand schools over to the new Academy providers who all have a strong track record of providing good quality schools.

Labour Government set to announce funding of up to £350 million for schools across Croydon. Education top priority for Labour says Malcolm Wicks MP at celebration of record investment in Croydon
The announcement of this significant investment in Croydon schools is a key part of the Government’s ‘Building Schools for the Future’ initiative that will see every secondary rebuilt to modern standards.
The investment is not just about new secondary schools. A typical primary school of 250 pupils will now get £47,950 this year to improve its buildings. In 1997 spending on school buildings by the Tory Government was only £700million. This year it is £7.9billion - Labour spends ten times more on school buildings than the last Conservative Government did!
Already the Conservatives are talking about cutting this programme. Vernon Coaker MP, Labour’s Schools Minister, said: “Labour is committed to invest in our school building programme. The Tories have made clear in their own policy document that they would cut it by £4.5 billion.
“This would mean one in seven future school building projects across England - over 360 school building projects – being scrapped under the Conservative plans”. The difference in approach is clear. The Conservative Council in Croydon has closed Tollgate School, Selhurst High School and Duppas Nursery School.
Only Labour invests in the future of our country. The Tories have not changed, just look at their local record for proof.
