Crime cuts

ScissorsThe Conservative Cabinet Member Steve O’Connell likes to talk tough about Crime and like the Conservatives nationally is spreading the myth that their cuts in Police resources will have no effect on front line Police numbers. However by cutting back office Police staff they will see that Police Officers will need to spend less time on the beat because they will now have to do the paper work and preparation for court cases etc.

The reality is that the Croydon Conservatives want all the kudos of any success the Borough Police Commanders plans achieve, but are not prepared through Cllr O’Connell to pay for the resources needed.

Labour support more uniformed Police, want more local Police Offices/Stations and same amount of resources spent on Mobile CCTV units as other London Boroughs. We also believe the back room staff should not be cut, they do a valuable job and enable Police Officers to spend more time Policing.

Labour’s spokesperson Cllr Stuart Collins says “ These Conservative cuts in Police resources are a bad choice , Croydon will see less Police time being spent on the local beat and our Police Officers pushing pens not Policing”
