Building Schools for the Future Cut

Labour's flagship programme to rebuild or renew every secondary school in the country has been hit by Tory dogma and political hate.

Labour embarked on an amazing investment programme to provide proper facilities for our young people to learn in. This was a long term programme with long term benefits.

Tory MP, Gavin Barwell was outraged by Labour Leaflets before the election, that forecast this very cut. The Tories have set aside money for 'free schools' and will decide the fate of Academies at another date. This is exactly what Labour said before the election.

The Tories can not get away with arguing that this is because of reducing the deficit when many of these schemes are PFI deals. They are being sacrificed on the alter of Tory ideology. They are cutting £40billion more from the UK budget than is necessary over the next few years. Remember outside toilets? Remember leaking roofs? This is the legacy that the Tories left the last Labour government. This is the legacy that awaits us if the Tories allow our schools to suffer and deteriorate.

Voting Conservative or Lib Dem has serious consequences. A price that we are all now paying.
