£2million refurbishment for condemed building

Council HQ Reception

Following hot on the heels of the revelation that the planned new Tory Council headquarters building will cost every household £74 every year for the next 10 years it has now emerged that they have spent at least £2 million of local taxpayers money on a significant upgrade of facilities at the Council Reception area of Taberner House.

Ian Payne said:

‘I’m sure there are many people like me who cannot see the sense of spending this money when the building will be pulled down within a few years. Its like installing double glazing and putting a new roof on your home even when you know it is going to be demolished in a few years’ time. I would have thought this money would have been better spent on keeping the local cash offices open as that, at least, would have been a benefit to vulnerable residents in our Borough.’
